Admirals Cove Yacht Club
The Yacht Club at Admirals Cove is one of the many fine aspects of the luxurious Admirals Cove. It is an active organization centered on a flurry of event planning from November to June. Organized and planned by the Bridge of Officers, dinner dancing parties, day cruises and overnight cruises, and “Docktail Parties” are just some of the fantastic events that distinguish the Yacht Club from any ordinary club.
Beginning as an unincorporated non-profit organization, the Yacht Club was founded in 1990 by a group of residents sharing an interest in boating. With a primary goal to promote boating, social activities, safety and education, and camaraderie, the founders eventually expanded their numbers to over 450 members. Eighteen years later, the Yacht Club boasts about 300 members, registered in the YCOA (Yachting Clubs of America), with access to over 600 yacht club facilities throughout the US. This includes Alaska, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands.
The Yacht Club is open to all equity members and marina residents, and boat ownership is not necessary.
Formal Socials and Dinner Dances
Throughout the yachting season, the ACYC has three main formal events. The Commissioning of the Fleet is the first main event, held during the third week of November. In late January, the “Season Opener” and generally Black Tie affair, the Commodore’s Ball, is held. Lastly, the Change of Watch is held in late April, honoring the new Commodore and Bridge of Officers.
Day Cruises are held at least one day of each month. Members gain the exclusive privilege of traveling an hour or more on the Intracoastal Waterway, or dining at an exquisite waterfront restaurant for lunch. Prizes, excellent food, and numerous laughs are just some of the riches of this experience. Members without a boat are welcomed, as guests may board other members’ boats or travel by car.
Each year, the Yacht Club offers two long trips and a June trip. Long cruises have traveled as far north as St. Augustine, as far South as Key West, across the state via Lake Okeechobee to Sanibel and Captiva, and East into the Atlantic to the Bahamas. Stops along the way lend access to planned activities like “Docktail” parties, brunches, excellent dining, and main events at the venues.
For Yacht Club members only, Docktail Parties are held November through April on the first Monday of each month. A casual event, complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served in the evening around the Clubhouse pool, marina facility, or at one of our members homes. Music is typically played, oftentimes supplied by “groupers,” or Yacht Club members who have played professionally. A large drawing of enthusiastic crowds usually attends this event.
During the Yachting Season, ACYC sponsors many educational seminars. These seminars include welcoming in manufacturers to review the newest navigational technologies, as well as hosting fishing seminars held by a panel of Admiral’s Cove experts.
Admirals Cove features 85% of its homes on navigable water, coupled with a top-notch marina with five-star amenities. However, it is the camaraderie of its members that makes it "the jewel in the crown"!
